Gestalt therapy

Gestalt therapy focuses on what is happening in the present moment: your thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and in the space between us. My approach is embodied, relational, and collaborative. I work in a way that aims to widen your awareness and support, key ingredients for change to naturally unfold.

At the heart of my work is non-judgmental listening, steady presence, and attention to the here-and-now. I believe therapy is not just about addressing symptoms, it is an invitation to deepen into relationship with ourselves, others, and the wider world.

Together, we follow what feels most alive and important for you, moment by moment.

  • Gestalt therapy is a school of psychotherapy that is interested as much in what you are sharing, as how you share and what it feels like to be together and share (what you are aware of in your body, experience, as you share). Put another way: how we do therapy may give us some clues for how to do life. Gestalt therapy is process focused. These are some examples of how I might attend to the process of our work together, and support you to notice what you notice.

  • Finding a therapist that you feel is the right person for you is so important. If you would like to have a chat before booking your first session, I offer a free 15-minute check-in call. Reach out through the contact form below. From there, we can schedule our first appointment.

  • I see clients in person in West End (Brisbane) and also offer online sessions. If you would like a combination of online and face-to-face that is also available. There is no price difference for online or face-to-face.

  • Individual therapy can be helpful if you’re new to therapy and needing a safe place to land in your body and experience.

    Gestalt groups may be a helpful place to land if you’re seeking support within a confidential group setting. It may also be useful if you are wanting to grow, learn and connect with others while at the same time finding space to share and hold your own experience.

    Depending on where you are and what you’re feeling drawn to, you may be involved in individual and group sessions in parallel. There is no wrong or right way, it is about following your own sense of what you need and what will support you. I am happy to speak more to you about this if you have more questions, feel free to reach out.

  • Individual sessions are $150 per 1-hour session.

    Gestalt groups: $80 per session, with fortnightly sessions over a three month period. When you sign up to a Gestalt group you are signing up to the whole 3 month offering.

    For people interested in medium-long term therapy, my services are likely to be more affordable than those who offer Medicare rebates, who become more expensive once the rebate runs out.

  • There are as many Gestalt therapies as there are Gestalt therapists, our co-founder Lore Perls once said.

    I am told that I work in ways that attend to the finer details of a person’s way of being in the world. I take care to notice the small things whether they are aspects of a story, a feeling, or a bodily posture asking to be noticed. I am committed to supporting a wakefulness in both myself and in relationship with clients. I hope that together we can find a way to work that supports you to feel more choiceful and alive in everyday life.

Individual Sessions

Join me for a 60-minute face-to-face session in West End or for a virtual session online.

Individual therapy can be helpful if you’re new to therapy and needing a safe place to land in your body and experience.

Gestalt Groups

Gestalt groups offer a way of experiencing yourself in a new way, try out new ways of relating and being in a safely held container. As a group we experiment with noticing what it’s like to arrive together, to listen, join one another, meet in our differences, and find ways to experience closure.

The purpose of Gestalt Groups is to support the growth of individuals and the group as a whole. Paying attention to how we show up in a group, how we impact each other and are impacted in return. This intentional and facilitated space can support an awareness not otherwise possible in one-on-one therapy.

Gestalt Group can provide fertile ground for cultivating vulnerability, for fine-tuning a here-and-now presence in everyday life, and for deepening awareness of how you make contact with yourself and others.

Gestalt groups consist of 6-8 people, and run for 90 mins per session, and usually run fortnightly for 3 months.

Fees & Values

I believe therapy should be accessible and sustainable — for clients, for communities, and for therapists. My approach to fees reflects the same values I bring into my work: care, presence, and respect for the realities of peoples’ lives.

I set fees to reflect the care and attention given in each session: a space that is unhurried, relational and sustainable for us both.

My standard fees are:

  • $150 per session of individual therapy

  • Gestalt Groups - $80 per session (6 fortnightly sessions)

Concessions
For people facing financial uncertainty or hardship, I offer a limited number of concession places. Please contact me if this would make therapy more accessible for you.

  • Concession places are limited so I can sustain this work long-term.

  • I review availability for concession spots every few months.

  • If you are unsure which fee suits you, we can discuss openly.

Cancellations

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to scheduled appointments. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice incur a 50% session fee.

  • Invite honest conversation about what feels possible for you, without feeling alone wondering if therapy is affordable or worth it.

  • Hold care and accessibility as central, rather than treating therapy as another service to buy.
